You will not sing songs, you probably will not give gifts but it does not mean we forget you! Best wishes of good health especially. And respect your resolutions!
From our side, it has not offered a Christmas present or gift for New Year but I do not think this is very serious with the bulk being offered each day here has travel together across the world in our little mobile home. Especially since the holiday season here is so different! It's 20 Celsius, the sun sets at 9:30 PM and we forget the snow and the lights farfetched. So it's a different atmosphere and ca further confirming that Christmas has become too commercial.
Finally visited the South Island, the weather does not permit us to see the big mountains of the West Coast or East Coast. Landscapes that we have welcomed to North Island (Marlborough region) were extremely dry and it is especially to see a landscape as stripped; was imagining that one day all these hills were a bit to cover. Long live the forests of British Columbia ... Now is the country's sheep and we are heading to Christchurch to celebrate the holidays with Stephen and Priscilla, our hosts New Zealanders who have traveled the last month with the parents of Stephen through the many parts of NZ.
The Christmas happened here in the mountains to do some climbing / block (a Castle Hill and Flock Hill) and visit a cave where a stream flows. The blocks on which we are quite free climbing catch. They rather textures to be used to hoist up. Make the block is no rope climb rocks sometimes small, sometimes large. And if you fall, you need a mattress and friends to ensure they do not fall ill. It is usually short and intense climbing plants that can easily injure muscles unheated.
Noel would not have been Christmas without a bird with puree of cranberry sauce and potatoes. Despite that we were camping, we was equipped with a jumbo chicken (turkeys were too big for our bowls ...), and was conducted according to an ancestral method is to boil the chicken (n is not aboriginal? Hey! Hey!). It was fabulous! All that was missing was the cold and snow for the quasi-typical meal quebecois.
The caves visited was also very particular. The walls were eroded by water flowing through. The flow was higher than what was recommended for the visit but it made our trip even more memorable because we could climb the walls to avoid too getting wet. It was obviously cold and darkness was absolute. Cheers headlamps!
December 27 brings us a new visitor: Marie-Andre, good friend of Karo has joined our adventures for 6 weeks. Mary got ready and spent time in the gym to get fit as she can in NZ country outdoors. We will arrange to test its capabilities and as a first step, it was another climbing spot located at the northern South Island - has Paynesford Reserve. A classic spot for escaldes in "sport", a term used to indicate that all guards are already laid in the rock and the climber needs only a few snaps the rope by which it passes to reach the

that traditional climbing (I feel like I have already mentioned this in another blog post). Teams of two were quickly mounted with Karo and Marie-Andree in ways easier, Gab and Etienne in ways more difficult and Priscilla shipping within two teams from time to time. The climbing spot is located just next to a river where it is too good to swim after a good day. It goes without saying that it acts as shower for us who do not come across too too often.
A few tens of km of road is also popular Abel Tasman Track is a 51km walk along the sea I've prepared a little video of 5Mb, so if you have a slow connection, wait a bit and The video can be viewed directly by clicking the play button (sort of triangle) below.
The hiker crossing is controlled by the tide on this beautiful walk as it is necessary to cross an area that, at each high tide, flooding the passage. We had to separate our market by the 1st day 14Km, 25Km and a small second day to finish. Probably the 2nd day was the hardest but everything went well. Marie-Andree is now ready for anything!
sore feet now, it's time to rest. The visit and wine tasting and a walk in tite sea kayaking north of the island is a good way to rest. We therefore align more ratings Marlborough Sounds. Waves being almost absent since many peninsulas hide high winds from the ocean in this area, Karo was
slightly reassured, not knowing swimming . And I, on the other side, I let a trainer in my kayak Amecon to make sure a small meal. Here, it is not required to have fishing licenses when fishing in the ocean but there are quotas to be respected by cons. No way for me to make the quota! Or is it that I could put all that food without a freezer!? While fishing unfortunately stops at the first or second terminal that bites my Amecon. I'm cruel Karo said ... m'enfin.
Well, with all this, it is made only on Jan. 10 ... it continues to give you news soon
