Is The Tahoe Changing Styles

Tasmania Perth to Melbourne! Horror at Wolf Creek

After a month of absence, we're back with our adventures.

I think that you were left with a big questionnemen t exist iel: what Australians eat a meal n oel? Well now, the 40 degree Celsius suggest a meal rather style BBQ with salads. Everything goes on the grill, the big steak to seafood delicious! It was e lucky tee, despite the lack of friends here, we still been very busy. Dinners Christmas galore. All were great.

Between Christmas and New Year's Day, it was allowed a small excursion mission to ferry Rottnest Island, a highly acclaimed destination e by the people of Perth, especially in the holiday season. We were there with two Quebecois Gab with whom studied at the Polytechnic that accidentally crossed first in Darwin, Perth and now Stephanie and Simon. It was good we had any the gang to talk in good Quebecois, especially during the holidays. To return to the island, it was done for the tourist. No cars allowed, so the best through displacement was cycling, course, to the great good fortune Gab. Roads but without engines! Awesome. The scenery was particularly delightful and water extremely clear! Only the wind given reason to complain to the group ... Because it's never perfect.

Once returned to Perth, we had the confirmation last minute of the visit of Marie-Andree (one of my very close friends, Karo said) on the continent kangaroos. I must say that Marie-Andree now holds the Palme d'Or for his support to travelers for two consecutive years. And yes, she is beautiful and much the same as Marie-Andree who visited us Last year in New Zealand. So after all these delicious Christmas meal, the party of the new year ahead. How we celebrate it? At the airport. And yes, the flight arrived at Marie-Andree 31 Decem ber 11h45pm 2008. We were treated to a super statement announced at the microphone from the airport surrounded by strangers. Rather strange! What a shame to have Mary on the other side of customs, all alone. Sniff! Once went out there, we decided to at least go see what's happening in the city while there is still action. Wow! Y has the world in the streets. World hot as recess. Mary I confirm that I am not crazy, the girls here dress really too "fancy" to exit. Looks like an evening gala. Worse normal good guys in jeans and t-shirt. Glad that Quebec is not yet like that (G ab said me, it suited me very well!).

following days o nt been p e u more tourist s . visit to the prison Fremantle with his sullen hall hanging. The prison was in use until the 90s. Impressive. Then, the Busselton Jetty and quick visit to a couple of Australian friends with whom we have worked who spent their Christmas holidays in the corner. We also have his it the has attempted vo ir da other u ph ins in the Discovery Centre Bunbury. E Obviously, having e raised to 5h30AM and be the conduit for the sunrise, they are missing a nearly 4am Wait.

Then comes the Margaret

River Don t us Vions As heard

spoke for its vineyards and its "s pot of surfing. I must admit understand the enthusiasm of people for this nice little town. In addition, they make good ice cream. A little surfing for Gabriel and a few small steps on the edge of the Indian Ocean in this area. Gab also for the first time used his new harpoon enough for a small portion of tickling ...

We also heard of a walk in the trees. U not huge Karri Forest with a 40m high bridge that gives you a beautiful aerial view of the surroundings. They even built the bridge to repeat the movement of trees with the wind. A few months without climbing eventually lead us to Centenial Tree. A tree 60 meters high with an observation tower on top. The stairs are steel rods anchored into the trunk to 2 feet. Say I advise not to tender hearts ascend. These observation towers were created anciennemen t detect forest fires further. Mary must have looked in vain for his sunglasses to a hover 40 yards. Fortunately the glasses were found in a bush in the bottom of the tree.

Good enough fooling around the , let s the thing s sérieus es. In the real climbs with a staging of more incredible on the edge of the Wed is in the corner of Albany found that the. The only "hick" is that the approach march is 1:30 lousse in sand, but once it is impressive. The wall directly overlooking the ocean. Go to the beginning of tracks, one must rappel and all with huge waves 're hitting the walls. Then climbing ... Tr op strong! Worse really fun climbing. Me that tripe not "crack" although I confess have liked the way climbing there (Gab said it has not done enough ... grrr).

A short stop in Esperance with its beautiful white sand beaches. There is not much to say on this, but I really wanted to put a picture or two.

And now it's part of our coveted trip !!!??? A 2250km (co even say Mary) "fucking boring road" includes a section of 146.6 km of perfectly straight road. Mary holds the record for the conduct thereof. What an achievement! At least he did not within 40 degrees for three days. To stretch our before our arrival in Adelaide (for our second time), we decided to walk a tite in the corner of Mt Remarkable. In town, n e have also taken time to see our friend Milton, a gentleman we had met New Zealand, who divides his time between Australia and NZ. Milton has a shape typical of what we can imagine a "trucker" imposing, but with a nice handshake t'écrabouiller yours (Phil, you got competition!). It is against a gentle and generous infallible. It has been so good to see him. It is for us, a bit like what s ymbole security and fatherhood. We even wrote from time to time in order to know where we are and if everything goes well. It is really great, a great nanny.

Back on the road Gertrude finally got his first major mechanical failure. This glitch has led us to a small town in the middle of nowhere with a cold sweat bonus (ok, Mary and I had cold sweats). See the following article on Tailem Bend for those who dare, or rather those who have the time. And we are left with a new song for Gerty (I keep the room mystery to those who will read the next article, ha).

Mt Arapiles is a rock climbing paradise in Australia and was for us a must (Gab influence here)! In a relatively flat topography, Mt Arapiles is visible for miles. We could not say too much the wrong direction. I admit not having had too many expectations about this spot, but I liked it immediately once you arrive. Very relaxing with a campsite at basis shaded by trees of (!!!), walls too high (35 to 100m) and very interesting ways. A real charm. Next was a visit to the Grampians, another climbing spot very popular for rock climbing in Australia and is only few kilometers from Mt Arapiles. I must admit that it impressed me much. Worse it was so hot in the sun. It has not found a nice way of less than 2 lengths of rope. M oi which vertigo is very proud have still managed all my ways (ok Gab chose the easy too) from 70 to 96 meters high. Gabriel would have liked to do much, but hey time goes on and off again already soon with Mary

many roads to be done. We will return

Gab.

L a celebration of Australia on January 26 and we had a mission celebrate with the people here. So we were looking for a village or city celebrate. It was therefore decided to head back to the ocean side to arrive to a small (mini) town called Port Fairy. What a great discovery. The small restaurant, cafes and shops of all kinds. Mary and I decided to shop for as long as we catch Gab good little fish. It was nice meeting with local artisans. Unfortunately, the village is too small and it does not seem to party, but the lady of the camp informed us that the city organizes a small outdoor theater with an original film of the Melbourne area. Bah! Why not. It runs So to the "center" of our armed mattress and sleeping bag to make the experience more comfortable (at least for our buttocks). Arrive at the corner of a street that seems to be one main remark people crowded in front ... none other than a truck of goods, with fabric on the side. Too funny. And the movie is PharLap. Go Bobby Go I think I never laughed as much before a film is being said seriously. This is the story of a horse always won in the races for horses. He would have raced several years ago in Melbourne. Must understand that for Australians, horse racing is taken very seriously. The Melbourne Cup is a very important event in the year. "It's the Race That Stops the Nation." It is reminiscent of Formula 1, but version one day and with class. Some girls wear hats for the event of massive and strong originals. I think they make contests with prizes. In short, the film is worth seeing just to understand a bit of a frenzy this "sport".

Now comes the advantage of the more interesting route across trip. I speak for myself because obviously I do not drive (I you say, worse than a woman driver), but the "Great Ocean Road" to the reputation of being one of the most beautiful road in the world. I was particularly looking forward to this moment too, as it is to see on this road one of the most popular icons of Australia: the twelve apostles. The twelve apostles (there is 8 now) are actually pieces of land that are recessed into the ocean due to soil erosion by the sea and wind. Unfortunately they are more exposed to the weather at sea and only now are disappearing one by one others. One day, thousands of tourists who land on the edge of the road will wonder why all these views have been created. The bad side of this road is to be in the car, three elbows elbows with a stifling heat to drive at 60km hour due to sharp curves. A nice 34 degrees in the shade (the sun, we calculated 48 degrees). The pavement was melting, Gertrude has left tire tracks.

We now come near Melbourne where Marie-Andree soon be leaving us again. It is with sadness least this time they leave the at the airport because I know that we have only two months before being returned to Canada. For those who asked, our flight to Vancouver is April 1, 2009. Then about a month of travel in western Canada. Like that next time people ask me how it is Canada, I'll be able to respond.

Well that's enough, you can return to your main occupation. For those interested, there is an article following this one that tells a bit of a zany story of a room change on Gerty .
